Year 2 Key Days

PE

PE will be every Tuesday and Wednesday

  • Term 1: Hockey
  • Term 2: Tag Rugby (Teamtheme) and Tri-golf
  • Term 3: Forest School and Badminton
  • Term 4: Gymnastics and Football
  • Term 5: Athletics and Dance
  • Term 6: Cricket (Teamtheme) and Rounders

A suitable PE kit must be provided, including socks as tights cannot be warn. Please adapt PE kits depending on the time of year, such as jumpers instead of just tops, or leggings/tracksuit bottoms instead of shorts, in order for this to be suitable for the weather.

As PE can often take place outside, please ensure your child has appropriate footwear (preferably trainers).

Watches, earrings and bracelets cannot be worn, and must be taken off either before coming to school or by your child before the PE lessons begin.

Spellings Test
  • Every Friday morning
  • The spellings for each term will be stuck into the children's 'home spelling' (purple) book. These spellings will also be updated weekly on EdShed, for your child to engage with the spelling games both at home and in school.
  • Please look for other spelling strategies on the English Subject Page
Times Table Test
  • Every Friday morning
  • This will involve the following times tables: 2, 5, 10, 3.
  • Once your child is secure with these times tables, they will progress onto division by 2, 5, 10, 3.
  • Times Table Rockstars is an effective, engaging way of helping your child learn their times tables both at home and at school. Their password is in the back of their contact book.
Homework
  • Homework will be set every Friday on either Maths.co.uk or Spag.com, and this will alternate each week.
  • Occasionally there may be written homework (such as letter formation etc), or homework set on an alternative learning platform, but this will be communicated by a sticker in your child's contact book before this is set.
  • Homework is due by the following Wednesday.
